I paint to create a sense of stillness.

In a world that often feels fast, noisy, and overwhelming, I believe our homes should offer something different, a place to pause, to breathe, and to feel grounded again, so that coming home feels restorative.

My trails are a metaphor for life. You can find hurdles symbolized by the rocks, leaves and branches on the floor but there is always a light to guide you through. The reason I am fascinated with trees and trunks is because it reminds me of growing up and playing in my grandmother’s backyard where I was always barefoot and climbing trees which I used to consider my best friends at the time. My grandmother also was a great cook and it was a pleasure for me to spend time with her around the kitchen talking about her good old days. She had such simple pleasures and looking after her family gave her great joy. I try to replicate that feeling with my still life paintings.

Every piece is created with care and intention, building the surface slowly over time through many layers using high quality materials, so it will endure and continue to offer something meaningful for years to come.

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, majored in Art and Industrial Design and have been working for a number of years creating learning materials to teach life saving messages to vulnerable communities around the world. I have lived and worked in the United States, Cambodia, and Indonesia. I am proud to have become a New Zealand citizen. Now based in Christchurch, I find constant inspiration in the natural beauty of Aotearoa.

More than anything, I want my paintings to offer a sense of calm at the end of a long day, a place for the eye to rest, the mind to slow down, and the home to feel more peaceful. There is enough of bad news and difficulties in life and home should be a place for restoration and peace.
